Tennis Court Maintenance Tips
If you want your court to last a long time it’s important to do some simple Tennis Court Maintenance. A well-maintained court not only looks good and plays well, but it is less costly to repair a damaged surface than to replace it entirely. The best way to extend the life of your surface is to have an ongoing program of weed control, cleaning, drainage and surface care.
Remove standing water as quickly as possible – long term standing moisture softens the coating and results in premature wear. This can also damage the underside of the court causing heaving or settlement problems that require expensive repairs.
Tennis Court Crack Repair: What You Need to Know
Keep the court free of foreign debris – leaves, pine needles and bugs contaminate the surface causing it to stain and create ideal conditions for mildew and mould to grow. Using a blower or brush with soft bristles, regularly inspect and remove the debris. This is particularly critical in shaded corners or any other areas that collect organic matter.
Drainage systems are a key component of court construction and help to divert excess moisture from the surface. Keeping the court drainage system clear of clogs minimizes water penetration and helps extend the time between resurfacing.
Inspect the court for signs of cracking; these should be repaired promptly to prevent further deterioration and ensure a safe playing surface. Similarly, address any low spots or divots in the surface, adding clay material and leveling it as needed.
